About the Blog

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

Hey there!

Do you ever get dazzled looking at a piece of business news or financial jargon? Do you ever find the information too much to take in when you read a business article from Forbes or Bloomberg? Did you find it difficult to get a headstart into exploring the world of business, when you realized engineering is not your cup of tea? Fret not, because we at 180 Degrees Consulting NIT Trichy have started "The Reverse Engineer" to turn your experience with the business world around 180 degrees. We are a group of management/business enthusiasts and this blog is our love letter to the world of business.

"In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins: cash and experience. Take the experience first; the cash will come later." - Harold Geneen

Every one of us strive to get the highest salary during the placement season, but we start our prep only when we get a message in our Whatsapp group that XYZ company is coming. Even then our preparation is restricted to coding, aptitude, HR interviews and ironing our shirts to impress our CIC Reps :). However, given the current situation, there's going to be increased competition for recruitments and general business knowledge might be the 'it' thing that makes you stand out in a vast crowd of resumes and applications. It's very possible that in any interview process henceforth, the interviewer might throw a question about how COVID-19 has impacted the economy and you do not want to be fumbling for an answer! There are two ways how business knowledge could potentially help you:

1. Group Discussions :-

" Discuss the impact of negative prices of the West Texas Intermediate oil trading to India "

Okay, probably you would never get this topic, but you should atleast be knowing that oil prices went negative in Texas :)

2. Interviews :-

Be it your B-school interview or an interview for your dream job, knowing about current affairs and business jargon puts you in a better position than others

But let's face the truth, it is difficult keeping tabs on all the things happening around us. And with social media active than ever before, it is hard to classify truth and fake news. And that's precisely why we as a club are starting this initiative.

Condensed articles on trending events written with a dose of magic from our consultants. This blog isn't just for people who want to pursue a career in business, it's equally important for all the Steve Wozniaks out there, because you have to either find your Steve Jobs or become one. We will also be writing about tech and start-ups that have shaped this 21st century. We'll make sure these articles are short, crisp and don't take more than 5 minutes of your time and hopefully, they will leave you wanting for more.

Till then Ciao!
